Seal/clip does not work

We were excited to buy two of these from our local Woolworths as the designs were great and it fitted in with our sustainability ethos. We packed both of them with salads (half full) for school lunches but the clips didn't hold at all. They clipped down for a split second then released. We tried everything for a good ten minutes but it is a very poor design unfortunately. We will be returning them tomorrow.
